Public Transit Injury Case Results

$5 Million - CTA Bus Crash

This recovery was for a 22-year-old who was broad-sided by a CTA bus as he was exiting a Jewel Supermarket parking lot. The plaintiff suffered brain damage, causing spastic quadriplegia and cognitive deficits and requiring life long care. Despite the defendant’s contentions that the plaintiff pulled out in front of the bus from a private drive, reconstruction evidence showed that our client was not entirely at fault.

$4 Million – Bicycle Accident

A 31 year old female was clipped by a passing CTA bus as she rode a Divy bicycle in a designated bicycle lane. The CTA tried to deny liability even though the bus video showed our client was clearly in the bicycle lane. Our attorneys were able to show the bus driver’s inattentive fault after extensive questioning during his deposition. As a result of her falling, she sustained bilateral labral injuries which resulted in a right arthroscopic surgery and a subsequent right arthroscopic revision surgery. She did not have surgery on her left labral tear. This matter settled on the eve of trial.

$1.5 Million Settlement – CTA Bus Accident

A 19-month-old girl was tragically killed after being struck by a CTA bus. The bus driver was distracted by a passenger paying their fare and failed to brake in time or perform full-service braking. The Chicago Transit Authority agreed to compensate the girl's family in the amount of $1.5 million because of the wrongful death caused by the bus operator's negligence.
