Winters Salzetta O'Brien & Richardson, LLC Obtains $1.52 Million for Injured Construction Worker
Cook County - June 13, 2019
The personal injury lawyers of Winters Salzetta O'Brien & Richardson, LLC recently obtained a large settlement for a construction worker who was injured on the job. Our client, a 17-year-old who was working a summer job as a roofer, was injured when he tripped and fell through an unbarricaded skylight and onto a concrete floor. He fell about 20 feet and suffered head injuries, fractured ribs, and a lacerated liver. In addition to requiring significant medical care, he experienced deficits in brain processing speed, memory problems, and behavioral changes.
Our attorneys sought to hold both the building owner and the construction company responsible for our client's damages by claiming that he was injured because of the failure to provide proper fall protection and ensure that the skylight was properly barricaded. In the settlement, the property owner paid $1.5 million, and the construction company paid $24,000.
